Early Riflemans Knife

Offered is a classic frontiersman's or rifleman's knife. This early knife was very important to some American pioneer ! The blade, cross guard, and collar are forged from iron. The nice straight grip is fashioned from a deer antler utilizing the "crown" as a pommel. The tang of the forged blade goes completely thru the grip and is peened  slightly off center in the butt.
It's blade is a very useable 6 1/8 inches long and the knife's overall length is just shy of 12 inches.
This knife feels great in the hand and has the warmth only achieved from  much use. It shows no signs of abuse.

Great size, shape, age, and patina. A honest artifact from America's frontier era.
