Featuring Frank House

dezfrankhalfa

Iron Mounted Smooth Rifle: Frank says, that he just cannot build a plain rifle anymore... that he just has to do what the project ask for and the piece must become what fate intends. The wood is rather plain all except the obvious stump cut curving grain just at the butt... but has warm wonderful character. The iron hardware is just exquisite; (notice the 16 flats on the thimbles) the carving is -just enough- with sort of an archaic feel. The lock started it's life as an L&R Queen Anne that has been lengthened, heightened, new frizzen, hand forged springs and much, much larger cock; sort of a trade gun lock. The whole thing just feels wonderful...and more than that...it is truly an “icon” of Frank House and his mental artistic maturity at this particular time.

Lot's of Reading characteristics...but with central Virginia (southern) evolvement and then "westward" on towards frontier Kentucky... with element from the likes of Thomas Simpson, Jacob Young, the Bryon family and Conrad Humble.
